Series was first offered to the market in 2004 as a five-door
hatchback and is the only rear-wheel drive in its class.
It replaced the BMW 3 Series Compact range and is currently the smallest
and most 'affordable' vehicle in the BMW range. During its first full
year on the market in 2005 it sold 149,493 becoming one of BMW's most
successful products. The 1 Series is somewaht an entry level car, and has been noticed that many BMW virgins opt for the E81 and E87. Once familiar with the rear wheel drive and quality BMW build, they often go on to purchase an E46 or and E90 range. The E82 and E88 hasnt been as popular as its older brother, but perhaps will in the near future.
The 1 Series is available to purchase from main dealers and used car dealers in abundance. It is a very popular car, and is a benchmark product for BMW. Groundbreaking and trend setting design, the 1 Series is available in 2 Door Hatchback, 5 Door Hatchback, Coupe and Convertible.
